[New!] Spring '07 - CMD attended the 30th annual GITA conference in San Antonio. The GIS world is in a state of flux with the recent popularization of open source and browser based mapping. CMD is committed to aggressively pursuing new technologies to better serve our clients in this ever changing environment.

[New!] Spring '07 - CMD partners with AutoDesk in the AutoDesk Developer's Network. AutoDesk's decades long record of serving the Utility Engineering arena with AutoCad is now coupled with a new product line integrating Engineering with GIS. With their recent Open Source release of the browser based Map Guide and their commitment to Oracle Spatial, we believe AutoDesk is laying a great foundation to merge Engineering, Mapping, Analysis and more for Utility companies.

Winter '07 - CMD develops PL/SQL implementation of a DXF-Out translator to convert Oracle GIS records to DXF.

Winter '07 - Developed tools to migrate FRAMME network model to Oracle. Starting with a DXF translation from FRAMME, we brought the data into the CableCad GIS file format where we developed programs to automate the translation and clean up of the FRAMME data:

  • Created and populated non-graphic records maintaining the Node-Path model required for CADOPS modeling

  • Designed rules based procedures to link primary graphic elements with non-graphic records

  • Automatically joined conductor lines which had been split at grid boundaries

  • Attached annotation graphics to non-graphic records

  • Ported CableCad data into a proprietary Oracle GIS datastore

Fall '06 - CMD developed a browser based "Trade Manager" application using Oracle's Application Express. Trade Manager will replace a legacy application for managing Gas Utility's purchases, sales and pipeline distribution systems. Trade Manager contains LDAP login authorization and Admin tools to manage group/user access to the menu driven system. The system includes over 30 screens with tables, forms, charts, calendars and reports, online help system, a User Manual in searchable PDF, and a paper manual.

Summer '06 - CMD delivered a browser based "Outage Summary" application for MLGW's Systems Operations group using Oracle's Application Express (HTMLDB).

4th Quarter '05 - CMD conducted interviews with 100 MLGW staffers and compiled a 230 page report detailing MLGW's use of CAD, Mapping and Engineering systems for the GIS Vision committee as they analyze current needs and plan for a new GIS system.

Spring '05 - CMD continues work on 3 projects for Memphis Light, Gas & Water.  The Work Request system automates the paper based Work Request system.  The new tools will automate population and verification of input information and store records in an Oracle database for reporting.  The Map View Database Utility is a front end GUI for performing a number of trace, report and fix routines on the Map View data set (CableCad Graphics linked with Oracle Non-Graphics).  The Valve Maintenance System will jointly track maintenance operations for both the Water and Gas Divisions.

Winter '04 - Mark's article, "My Family's Most Treasured Possession" was awarded First Place in it's category by the University of Texas Humanities Institute's "Writing Austin's Lives" project. News 8 reported on the story in this interview.

Summer '04 - CMD delivers MLGW's Clearance Order system and updates the online documentation for the newly revised MLGW Map.

Fall '03 - CMD develops and delivers technical specifications for MLGW's Clearance Order and Valve Maintenance Systems.

Summer '03 - CMD delivers Web-based Tutorials and Documentation for Memphis Light, Gas & Water's "MapView" application.
